I remember many years ago reading a very popular book called Dune. One of the most significant lines of that was echoed throughout the book was, “Fear is the mind-killer.”
I must admit that at the time I didn’t totally understand what that meant but in the last few days, listening to people talk about the three recent plane crashes, the words have flooded my brain and their meaning is as obvious as a fully illuminated neon sign.
Fear kills the mind on so many levels. First of all it preoccupies the formerly functioning mind with negative thoughts - a movie screen now showing endless images of horrific future events.
Fear can take all of the complexity and creativity of the human brain and misuse it to conjure up every possible hideous disaster that could have any remote connection to the present circumstance causing the fear. You know what I’m talking about; you’ve heard the crowd around the water cooler saying things like, “You wouldn’t catch me getting on a plane right now.” Or , “My friend just cancelled her trip to Europe…you never know when the next one is going down.”
From the perspective of an Energy Psychology specialist, this kind of behavior is the worst thing that can happen. All of these people feeling fear, talking about their fears, taking action based on fear…it all contributes to the Fear Frequency getting stronger and stronger. Law of Attraction tells us that ‘like attracts like.’ So if we are collectively putting out a strong vibration of fear, we will attract more outcome to be fearful about. Aaghh! How do we stop this fear-based downward spiral?
The answer is extremely simple. Refuse to contribute to the fear energy that is permeating the planet right now. Focus on all the positive things in your life, and the positive things going on all over the world right now. Turn off the fear-based newscasts and watch a comedy show or spend time playing a game with your family. Read a good, uplifting book. Consciously focus on good, people loving activities. There are plenty of them going on…they just don’t make great news stories.
Refuse to be manipulated by the media. Be the one in charge of your life. What you focus on you feed energy to and what you feed energy to, expands and grows. What do you want to grow? What do you want to contribute to?
You be the one to direct your mind, choose thoughts that feel good. We always have the power to do that. While fear is the mind-killer, joy and positive thinking are mind-expanders. In which direction do you want to take your thoughts? What do you want to feed the Energy Field of the planet and of humanity today? Fear or hope? What are some ways you can do that?
Please share them with us. Let’s grow the good stuff.
